School Selection: The process of placing students into appropriate primary and secondary schools (including postgraduates) requires planning, organization and consultation with the main focus on the individual child. I have more than twenty-eight years of private school experience and am very familiar with area day schools and boarding schools throughout the Northeast and beyond. I enjoy a strong personal and professional reputation and possess a proven ability to guide families through the admissions process. I have received the prestigious “Best Educational Consultant” designation from Boston Magazine. My expertise will ensure that families receive current information and accurate assessments of schools for their children. Identifying specific schools and types of schools that will meet the needs of each child is a complex task; however, an experienced consultant will surely be a great help.

Interview Techniques: A good interview is an area in which a family may enhance their child’s candidacy. Successful interviews, for both the child and the parents, require preparation, participation, enthusiasm and an understanding of the nature and the goal of their admission visit. Subjective by nature, an interview is one of the more individualized, personal parts of the application process. Having been both a Director of Admissions and a Director of Secondary School Placement, I am able to explain the nature of the various components of an interview. Several sessions with a child and one shorter session (optional) with parents will ensure purposeful preparation. This offering is part of the School Selection service and is given also on a separate basis. COLLEGE INTERVIEW TECHNIQUE SESSIONS ALSO AVAILABLE.

Introductory Meeting:
This initial meeting, which lasts about two hours, is offered to parents to discuss the nature of educational consulting, the process I employ, my philosophy in dealing with students, what criteria schools use to make admissions decisions, fee structure, past admissions decisions and to answer general questions that a family may have prior to beginning the admissions process. For families who to decide to use my full School Selection service, the cost of the Introductory Meeting is subtracted from the full consulting fee.

Admissions Testing: Almost all schools require some form of standardized testing for candidates. Two popular exams are the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). I am exceedingly knowledgeable about test preparation, how schools use the scores and the various levels of achievement desired by the individual schools. I administer both tests in small groups on a separate basis from my educational consulting services.
